Have you noticed how nervous and uptight you can be on the first day of school? Are you even ready for the Holidays that are coming up? Are you finding yourself dreading the number of students that you will have this year?? Here are some tips from a teacher with 1 year of experience to 25 years of experience....Read on....

Tip #1: Make a Name chart:

Use your Cricut machine to make some eye catching name tags for the students. Go to your local Dollar tree and use some labels that have eye catching colors so they stand out to your students.

Tip #2: Label Desks with Names of the students in groups of 4

Label each desk by using letters. Ex A, B C.....Use index cards in bold colors so they stand out to the student.

Tip #3: Create a checklist with each students name:

Create a checklist with each students name and something special that you know about them. As the day progresses, ask them specific questions about that so they seemed surprised that you knew that. Ask other students to list something special that they might know about the student as well. Once you have created your list, make copies of them for each student you have. Let them pick a special day so they can tell other interesting facts about themselves.

Last of all, make sure to let the students know something about yourself so they can feel comfortable with you as their teacher. This will help to ease the frustration of someone being shy. This would also be a good time to discuss the holidays by asking them what they would like from Santa:)

I have spoken with several teachers over the years who have used this process and they stated that it helps them to relax and the students to relax as they are more comfortable around each other. It also allows the students to get to know each other in the class by listening to their friends and saying their own things.

I hope I have given you ways to relax and that you found this to be useful. If you have any questions or comments, please be sure to leave them below!
