Thanksgiving Classroom Door Decorations

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and is the holiday that we associate with delicious meals and visiting extended family, but the meaning of the holiday goes much deeper than that. We've created a door decoration idea that will help children understand the holiday better while getting to work on a fun art project and channel their creativity.

1. Have each child trace their hand on a piece of construction paper colored red, orange, yellow, or brown.

2. Next, instruct the children to write their first names on the center of the hand prints and cut them out of the paper.

3. Each child will then think of five things they are thankful for and write one idea on each of the five fingers of the handprints.

4. Since each of these hands is supposed to represent a turkey, they are then free to decorate their hands with feet and a face before they are glued onto a background on the wall.
